58x vs 6xx gaming reddit

  • Jun 25, 2018 路 The last comparison was the Dell Alienware 35inch Gsync widescreen vs the Asus and Dell seem to be the winner again. Let's go Dell. I mean it's pretty clear to me now how the things hav e been going the Asus and Acer drops the product first with the same panel, then Dell follows suit shortly after.
Feb 19, 2019 路 I recently purchased a 58x Jubilee from massdrop after going into complete analysis paralysis between those and the 6xx. I decided on 58x because of the easier time powering them (since I have no amp at the moment, more on that below) and the slightly better bass. I'm hoping I don't get buyer's regret on these.

  • From what I see from other reviews and impressions, both the 58X and 6XX lack the bass extension in the lows. tl;dr, I recommend the HE-4XX if bass extension is more important, and the HD 58X if clarity is more important. Either headphone is a good choice.
  • Oct 06, 2013 路 Note that it's just Boot Camp. Good enough for most purposes. But you do have a point. That PCIe-Thunderbolt adapter will limit the link just to 5 Gbps. So no point getting a GTX Titan. Just stick with the GTX 5xx-6xx series if you intend to wire up an eGPU via Thunderbolt.
  • Nov 06, 2019 路 6xx and 58x are amazing all around IMO but do not excel in some areas like others. The 6xx is fairly smooth with a smaller soundtage then the 712, but still very clear. 58x have slightly more energy I find and the bass has more impact (though not more clear vs the 6xx).

Mostly gaming? Check out the K7XX from Massdrop. Soundstage and imaging are excellent. As is comfort. HD650 / 6XX - I can use my HD650s for gaming but they're relaxed. I prefer my HD598s. Music would be the other way around. The HD650 / 6XX is the better choice IF you can power it right.

The E12 will get the HD 6xx ( same as the HD650 which I own ) loud. That doesn't mean it will drive the 6xx anywhere near its potential though. The more power you give them the better they sound. I liked my HD 600s more than my HD650s until I got an Aune X7S. 1.7w of class A power through the balanced connection does amazing things to the 650s.

Nov 18, 2017 路 GTX 970 vs 780Ti/Titan Black GTX 1070 vs 980Ti/Titan X they always come with comparable performance to the latest flagship, with a huge reduction in price, huge reduction in power draw and improved efficiency and better driver support in the long run.

Sep 23, 2018 路 The thing is. I'd personally pick HD 6XX over HD 58X even if there was a 150 鈧 price difference. The HD 6XX has better imaging, positioning, separation, depth and soundstage. It's just more refined. On HD 6XX the vocals seem to spread wider and the don't have unnatural hardness to them. It's more detailed across the board.

58x if you dont have an amp, and 6xx if you do. The 58x isnt as analytic as the 6xx but is a bit brighter and sounds more fun. The others are pretty expensive, and sound very similar to these. level 2

Feb 24, 2019 路 Metal571 also mentions in his comments (on either his YouTube review or Reddit, I forgot) that the LCD-1 is a much, much better headphone than the HD 58x (and much, much better than the HD 600/650/6xx), so that does fill me with a good amount of confidence (he and solderdude of DIY Audio Heaven being the reviewers I trust most -- RTINGS is a ...

Nov 19, 2009 路 That should help quickly pick which one is best for you. Basically the 6xx is warmer/smoother and more detailed, but the 58x will sound more exciting.

    Dt990 Vs Sennheiser

Jun 28, 2019 路 Though I just got a pair SHP9500 and I haven鈥檛 given it much of a chance, I prefer the 58X. My gaming set of choice are the X2鈥檚, which has a huge soundstage, bass heavy and pretty much opposite of what you want, but its so much fun. I鈥檓 just going to throw this out there (after seeing this on reddit).

The 58X are built off the 580 Jubilee, and the 6XX are built off the 650. The 6XX are the neutral, smooth pair, while the 58X bring more bass and are somewhat warm. Most people tend to prefer the 6XX for music and movies. Gaming is a mixed bag for both, and I'd probably steer clear of them for competitive FPS.
Funny I just got my 6XX delivered today. Running on a Schiit Modi and Heresy stack. Honestly sounds amazing. Kind of went down a rabbit hole during lockdown, was considering a gaming headset but people on here steered me right. Music sounds so much better.
Jul 24, 2017 路 Overall sort of like drier, less smooth HD600's with more impactful bass. Definitely a preference thing there. K7XX's don't clamp as hard, though which one will end up more comfortable is up to you. AKG's better for gaming. I think most will end up preferring HD600's for pure music, though there are always people who feel otherwise.
Sounds like 58X is great for saving the $100 on an amp, plus the $50 lower price from 6XX. And The 58X was designed to be used with phones, so less problems with not enough power to drive the speakers. I wonder if they would outperform my MDR-1000Xs on the computer. Thanks for the links!
